Cables

Analogue Cables

TRS (known as a Tip, Ring, and Sleeve) are available in three standard sizes. These are 1/4 inch (6.35mm), 3.5mm, and 2.5mm. All three cables are readily available in two-conductor (unbalanced mono) and three-conductor (balanced mono or unbalanced stereo) versions. 3.5mm TRS cables are used for a number of consumer electronic applications that transmit an audio signal (i.e. for ear/headphones). 1/4 inch TRS cables are commonly used to connect electrical instruments to amplifiers and/or monitor speakers.

Three-conductor TRS

XLR (known as a Cannon X Series, Latch, Rubber). XLR plugs and sockets are used mostly in professional audio and video electronics cabling applications, for microphones and line level signals.
